I listened to the Squirrel Nut Zipper's album (and it sucks) but their song that has been getting airplay seems to have the lyrics from "Afterlife" by DT. Somebody posted in a past ytsejam that there once was a member of Majesty named Chris Collins.. Who was he and what did he play, and who is he playing with now? Who were the original members? This might be in the FAQ.. but I thought I knew enough not to have to bother to look... If it is..just send me over to the FAQ (and call me an asshole!) Lastly, I went the Ticketbastard's web site last night, it only has 3 dates on the list that DT is going to play.. Is this on purpose or are they just lacking updates? They are assholes anyway.. Does anyone have the updated Date by Date list of DT tour dates? I am having a hard time finding the time to make plans to go to shows being held this month.. I was given so much notice and all : ) but it's all good. Does anybody remember C-man? He was the dude who used to run the publicity contests on the 'jam, and would reward us with promo packages (mine included LATM Japanese copy, Live in Tokyo video, an 8x10 photo without a keyboardist, a bunch of Awake picks, and the Awake postcard). C-man worked for East/West (and still might judging from his site), and he used to be pretty interactive with us. Then, he just disappeared. After I returned from a year hiatus, I started seeing this D-man fellow, and hoped that C-man was back. Chris, did you rip off your ID from him? Anyway, we need to get him interacting with us again, because unlike much of the band, he respected how influential we are. It irritates me that we didn't get one mention on FII, even though it was our petition that got DT back in the studio. The most we get is a word about the internet from James when introducing ACOS, and even then he sounds a bit sarcastic. We're the real fan club, but who gets the fucking Christmas CD? Not us. Done. The most we get is a word about the internet from ]From what I can tell, that's not 100% accurate. Now, I'm not sure, so don't take this as infallible, but I *THINK* that Elektra had just scheduled some studio time for DT when they received the petition. Not to say that the petition didn't accomplish anything. It let them know that people care whether DT continues to exist or not, and may (who knows?) have been influential in pulling down names like Shirley, Thorgerson, and Child. (Whether you like those three or not, it was still quite a coup for a band like DT. Especially to get them all for the same album.) > James when introducing ACOS, and even then he sounds a bit sarcastic. > We're the real fan club, but who gets the fucking Christmas CD? Not us. It would be prohibitively difficult at *best* to send a special-edition CD to everyone on the mailing list. As for James, well, I don't know what he thinks about all this. I love their CD's, but was wondering if anyone > was ever lucky to catch them life....... hehe..good show?! FUCKING GREAT SHOW!!!!!!!!! You can expect one insane, rip-roarin' shreddin', super-tight prog-metal band!! With vocal deity Warrel Dane commanding the mic like only his sinister self can. They replaced Pat O'Brien with the guy from FORBIDDEN I think?? Who was really good...but Jeff Loomis is the one to watch (left side of stage)...he's so clean its scary...super shreddin' melodic solos...couldnt help but stand wide eyed when his solos hit...especially "This Sacrament"! Last week was great for metal in NYC...saw NEVERMORE three times and BRUCE DICKINSON once..and got autographs and pictures with both bands..super nice guys! DO NOT HESITATE to see NEVERMORE (the best $7 you can spend)..although why they are opening for FLOTSAM AND JETSAM is beyond me..when NEVERMORE finished 3/4 of the crowd went out the door. Stay around for F&J's first song though.. "Doomsday for the Deceiver"..its a killer tune..rest are non-descript metal fare. Here's the setlist: Next In Line This Sacrament Seven Tongues of God Silent Hedges/Double Dare Sanctuary (Hell yeah!!!)..classic! The Tienanman Man Optimist or Pessimist Lost The Learning ("Politics of Ecstasy" switched places with this one every other night..both are brilliant..although I slightly prefer "The Learning") They are all cool dudes..caught Van and Jeff in a comic shop in NYC and talked for a while..they don't play anything from the first album (bummer :-( because they've only had the new guitarist for a month and thats a lot of complicated material to learn so they decided to stick with the newer stuff for now. I would have LOVED to have heard "CBF" or "Garden of Gray"! Warrel is also a bigtime "Simpsons" and "South Park" ("They killed Kenny...YOU BASTARDS!!") fan...he was bummed he missed the season premiere...and that the Seattle Mariners bit the big one. Also commented how huge the shows in Europe are and that there have been some pretty crappy turnouts on the US tour but he's happy they are even able to tour the states. Loves the dudes from ICED EARTH and BLIND GUARDIAN and after touring will start on new material for the nest NEVERMORE opus. He also signed ALL of my album covers (2 SANCTUARY covers and 3 NEVERMORE covers). And bring a video camera cuz there was NO (zilch, nada) security..most places are small clubs and bars anyway. Once again....I saw them 3 times last week and it wasnt enough! I wish more people would speak up about this band cuz they are not getting the recognition they should be..SENTINEL STEEL be damned!; thats the only major problem I have with Denis Gulbey...he runs a kick-ass 'zine and FANTASTIC mail-order business, BUT his review of NEVERMORE sounds like he mixed up the albums with a Duff McKagan disc. HAIL NEVERMORE! I know Mike recognizes us, and has always been the most interactive member when it came to our group. He and JM even did the IRC discussion for us, a couple years ago. I listened to the Birch Hill '95 show last night, and when James introduces ACOS, he mentions the internet, but not the Ytsejam mailing list, and does it with this tone of voice that sounds very UNappreciative. What saves it, is when Mike P. tells James to say "yell out the PLEASE DON'T GO part". James announces this very unenthusiastically, I guess because he knows that this part was only evident on bootlegs, or something. I don't know why James is so anti-Ytsejam, anti-Internet, but it's starting to piss me off. If their hands are tied, and it's really the label making them ignore us, then we need to step up and correct this. We are the mass, and we have the power. I think James' attitude of "I want to sell a million records this time" was more responsible for this than our petition was. Frankly, I'd rather have the Awake producer, the Awake album art, and they certainly don't need Desmond Child. Hollow Years could sell a million albums if marketed correctly - but fat chance of that. >>>It would be prohibitively difficult at *best* to send a special-edition CD to >>>everyone on the mailing list. As far as the fan club CD goes, it should have been available to us for like $5. I don't want to have to send $15 to someone who might send me a newsletter every other month. We talk about Dream Theater every day. If that ain't a fan club, then I don't know what is. We need to start pushing for some real recognition. D-man, none of this is directed at you. We have over 1000 people talking about Dream Theater every single day of the year, including Christmas. Now that's a fan club. I don't need to send someone my $15 to hear about DT 4 times a year.
