And the Bb's are in paranthesis because they're only played by the bass. Now about the tour...I just find it extremely odd. Something tells me there's going to be a lot rescheduling. I mean, from what ppl have said, it seems these places are simply too small for DT. Didn't somebody say one of the clubs had like a capacity of 300? Puh-leez, DT can fill up a larger venue than that. Do the guys even know what's goin' on? Maybe they haven't been informed since theyre on that promo tour and stuff. Therefore s/he requested to present you, on his/her behalf, with this E-mailed copy of
the ICQ program, in order to enable you to communicate with him/her.

If you have Windows 95, Windows NT 4 or Windows 3.x:

http://www.mirabilis.com/download.html

Once it is installed you will be able to dial her/him easily and communicate with him/her.
Please note: his Universal Internet Number (UIN) is 3864848.

WHAT IS ICQ (I SEEK YOU)?

The ICQ program overcame the main obstacle that prohibited the Internet from becoming
a truly real-time, two way, interactive, person-to-person global communication system.

The ICQ program enables you to "dial" anyone on the Net at your discretion, without
having to make any prior arrangements with him or her. In fact, the recipient of the call
needs only to install this program. There after, He or she will always, when on the Internet,
be alerted when you are contacting him/her. The program will indicate to you, who of
your list of designated frequent contacts, is logged-in at any given point in time, ready to
receive Internet communications.

With ICQ you can initiate communication with anyone on the Internet at anytime, be
it by text, voice, graphics, video or games. You can even send entire URLs. Messages
are delivered directly to the recipient's computer, without the need for downloading.
If the recipient is "logged in", he or she can respond immediately and open a direct
line of communication with you. If not, your message will be saved and be made
available to the recipient as soon as he or she comes on line.

No longer will you search in vain for friends or associates on the net. ICQ does the
searching for you, alerting you in real time when they sign on, thus eliminating the
need to conduct a directory search each time you want to communicate with a
specific person.

ICQ runs in the background and allows you to work and play on other applications
while keeping track of incoming messages as well as the log-in status of your
Internet associates.

PAGING WORLD WIDE: Until you install the ICQ program you can still page
Alan Estrada through the WWW by the ICQ World Wide Pager, using the following link:

This message will reach the person, and pop up on his/her screen, if s/he is online - immediately;
if s/he is offline - as soon as he/she logs on to the Internet, wherever he/she may be.

DOWNLOADING: If you wish to download our Windows 95, Winndows NT or Windows 3.x versions you can download a copy of the program or for more

Message-ID: Hey 'jammers, I have the opportunity to write an article for my school's newspaper covering the October 29 Toronto Dream Theater show. Does anyone know the specifics of getting touch with DT's management (Focus, I believe) for press passes, tickets, etc.? If so, please e-mail me back at email_address_removed with any info you have. I'll keep everyone posted as to what happens. Thanks in advance! Jeremy P.S. This came about because, a couple of weeks ago, I asked our paper's features editor to list FII in the upcoming releases box, but he said he'd never heard of DT before. When I told him tonight that they debuted at #52 in the U.S. and much higher in other countries, and that they were touring soon, he thought it might make for a good article. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :) Just wish they were coming to Rochester, so I wouldn't have to travel for 3-4 hours to see them. -- * Jeremy A. Smith "42!" --Douglas Adams * * a.k.a. Message-ID: I can't say that the news of a new JP album is exactly earth shattering for me, after all the delays and the years that have passed by since their last studio album 'Painkiller', my question is does anyone really care in 1997 about Priest ? Sure I'll give it a listen, it will be interesting to see if they can come up with a new sounding metal album for the 90's. Let's hope it isn't a rehash of some of their earlier efforts, it will be different hearing Priest without Halford. BTW what is 'ol leather lungs up to these days ? The way I see it, is that, Paul is right it > comes down to money and the reason there is no tour is > probably also because the label just doesn't see any cash ops > in it. More likely, they don't see the potential. What really fuckin' slays me is that they will -probably- draw audiences at least as big as on the Awake tour, yet they're playing cesspits and garderobes. I saw them at the State Theater in downtown Detroit (and escaped with my life), a great venue with a good-sized crowd. Two balconies; it looked like it was 80% sold out. Call it c. 4,000 people. Where are they playing this time in Detroit? Apparently somewhere smaller..... > Well, if DT was smart, and we all know they are, don't > bother recording it. Put out another EP, get a new label (I > believe they just have 1 more recording to do then they are > free from all contract obligations) Give the new label the > song, well, don't GIVE them the song but record it and then > that basically tells the current label "Ha, we screwed you > over". So, theres that little logical bit, why record Met 2 > under Elektra, thats what elektra is waiting for. At least get > a label that can do some good for the band. Easier said than done. Sure, someone like Metal Blade or Roadrunner might like them, but they don't have the moxie (read: money) that Elektra has IF THEY WANT TO COMMIT IT. An example of What Money Can Buy: we've been talking about the nice coverage DT got in METAL EDGE. What? Did you think the magazine did that out of the goodness of their hearts? Out of a sense of duty to the prog movement? Hardly! The reason for the coverage is on page 7.... > As for touring, do what Iced Earth does, do it yourself. Might work if Jammers in individual cities could help with promotion, getting the word out, scouting venues, etc. But who pays for the radio ads? Etc..... Hint: if ya buy radio ads for a show and offer free goodies to the station, they JUST might add your song for a few spins. -- +-- I know it's easier to walk away than look it in the eye.... ---+ | I would raise a shelter to the sky... It's on Shrapnel and features Shrapnel solo artist George Bellas on guitar, Barry Sparks (Malmsteen, MSG) on bass, drummer Mike Terrana (Malmsteen, MacAlpine) and keyboardist Matt Guillory (?). IMO it's pretty good with lots of neo-classical (barouque), odd time sigs and noodling guitar and keyboard solos. I think the average Jammer would like it. (Not you stuck-up, elitist Yste-snobs. Song Original time FII time TAMP (6:35) (6:03) YNM (5:55) (4:59) AL (6:35) (5:52) BMS (9:00) (5:29) LitS (13:40) (12:05) JLMB (5:15) (5:29) now I can understand the BMS (Hell's kitchen spawning), but it just makes you wonder how much the label made them "trim the ...." well, I was going to say trim the fat, but I doubt that applies, since DT said it was "finished" at the time (with those playing times)... probably more like "trim the Grade A beef!!"... anyway, for metropolis2, I'd like to see some of those songs which were pushed off FII for an EP... i.e. Raise the Knife, Where are you Now, and The Way it Used to Be, plus a few others here and there... *******SECOND... This part pisses me off....********** Seems that the musically inept program director here at WUVT (Va Tech radio) has come to an amazing revelation... that Progressive Rock/metal has no place on the VT radio... yep, after 3 shows, I've been cancelled because, "what you play doesn't fit right with the station as a whole"... WTF??? First off, I was given this show in an "open disc" format (basically whatever you want... we have people using it for Cultrual music, rap, alternative, metal, etc.), yet playing prog doesn't fit in with these OPEN times... (I've been playing DT (of course), Rush, Savatage, Fates Warning, Satch, Vai, Johnson, Genesis, Yes, Nouveaux, etc.), been doing my (required) rotations (of crappy music) to schedule... just so something like this wouldn't happen (don't want to give em an excuse)... Second, I'm playing it at 2 in the morning... a time when only Prog listeners are awake to care.... I've been a DJ for over 6 years now, and have never had any sh!+ like this happen before... time to go back to some real radio (i.e. my 5 disc changer). JLMB reatlly applies here. I'll post the guy's email as soon as I get it.. then maybe y'all can help me get my slot back (or an even better one... 2-4 am's not reaching many, AND I **DO** have classes in the morning!!! :) Plus a few hundred emails in his box might make me feel better. Got me some blanks, got me some time... shit, I'm gonna run out of liners before I can even finish out tomorrow's run. :) double 4x4 burners means Mike shall be catching up in the very near future. Take care all!! Also got the 3" Japanese CD bonus of FII. The TAMP demo is much heavier than the final song, and has full metal-style drumming rather than the Latino beat on the album version. It's also too slow. I like both versions for their own sakes, but the album version, even if the only difference were the stunning solo, takes the prize. Also "Speak to Me" isn't _bad_, but it's weak compared to the FII crop. I can tell why they left it off. Still well worth the listen, both of them, if they ever release the BMS single so it can be had for cheap. -Mikey ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Oct 1997 10:21:35 +0000 (WET) From: Marco Nuno da Silva Goncalves To: DT mailing list Subject: ANGRA Mailing List Message-ID: Hello everybody.
