TIME CLAUDILL 2. BILL HUSTON 3. "MATT + MELISSA" Recently my apartment was vandalized and most of my CDs taken. However, after reporting the incident to the police and a number of used CD stores in the area, the idiot who robbed me tried to sell most of them back to one of the stores, and eventually the police nabbed him. Sure enough he had all of the CDs. I bring this up only because I had arranged to sell a few of my CDs to the people listed above, and I have lost their email accounts. I had notified them immediately after the breakin occured NOT to send $ for these CDs, for I never thought in a million years that I'd ever see the discs again. However, the police got back to me and said that they'd have to retain possession of the discs for another 2 weeks or so until the "preliminary hearing" of this foolio; following this trial, they will be returned to me in full. So, to the three listed above, THE CDS WILL BE AVAILABLE WITHIN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, SO SIT TIGHT IN THE MEANTIME. ALL IS NOT LOST. Bill: I hastily sent back your money order yesterday. Sorry for not taking things a bit more slowly, except that as I stated above, I never thought those CDs would again see the light of day. Please be in touch ASAP!! Best Regards... Ive never posted but I feel I must do so now. I would just like to say that in my opinion the new stuff that Ive heard from them (burning my soul, lines in the sand, take away my pain, just let me breathe, peruvian skies) is totally and completely the best stuff they have ever written. I mean, I can't believe that nobody else had said this. I lean more towards I&W than Awake and I can say that this new CD will just be awesome. It's hard to explain but people don't worry, I'm telling everyone to chill and to just get ready for CD of the decade. All this derek V.S kevin crap is startin to bug me. Stupidity bugs me. I know that some guy wrote huge reviews on alot of the new songs. I loved it and thank him for it but he was or at least to me was not very excited about it as a whole. He was like "well folk's there you have it a little bit of everything". On an ending note I'm just sayin after hearing those songs..get ready cause this CD is gonna tear down your house. It's got more and better of everything. Is it prog? hell yes even in the short songs it's got huge prog parts. Is it emotional? God yes, you just wait. Is it heavy? I think that it's the heaviest, and I know Mike said it's not as heavy as awake but let me just say this. Johns riff's have gotten awesome. I think he needed some help on em in awake but on this album when the heavy parts come it will make your blood rush more then ever. So people just shut up about talking down to DT shut about Derek and quit all your pathetic complaining. It's getting old. It's easy to sit back in your little world and say I want this and I want that. Well there doin it. To DT's defense. I believe FII will be, by far the best and I'm happy for em Jon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Aug 1997 14:02:36 -0400 (EDT) From: Corey Bell To: email_address_removed Subject: Here is an idea...DT content!! Message-ID: Since the new cd will be out soon and there will probally be a tour to follow wouldn't it be great if list members had a chance to meet the band without having to take chances like waiting around with lots of other people after the show? I am on another mailing list that gives its' members pre-show meet and greet passes for one show on their current tour. I must say that it would have to be organized by someone who is in contact with the band and could make sure that everyone would have a fair chance at meeting the band in an organized fashion. The way it works on my other list is the owner of the official web page of this band is in contact with the bands tour manager and they send a fax with the names of the people whom are to have passes for each venue then passes are picked up with an ID at will call. It is such a great experience to meet a band at a meet and greet and DT seems like the kind of band that would appreciate their internet fans. This is just a suggestion. I really don't want to be flamed for this. My only intention is to present what is being done by other bands to accomodate their internet fans. Feel free to make any suggestions or just show your support and maybe we can get something together to get to meet one of the greatest bands in the world. For starters, Mastermind opened up. They are really worth a listen. Even better than Pleasure Crush. Really. Good guitar work in a 3-piece prog-rock format. I thought that the drumming was a bit simplistic, but then I had listened to DT on the drive into town ........ One downside is that the CDs which they were selling at the show were expensive as hell for a band that isn't exactly a household name ($20-25). WTF ??!! Does anyone have any of their CDs ?? Fish really knows how to put on a show. About 2.5 hours. Quite the showman and quite the personality. At the same time, he comes across as a little bit stuck on himself yet honest, sincere and endearing. There was one dude at the beginning who hinted at being a bit rude and Fish shut him up quickly. Few dared to utter a malicious peep after that. And, to prove that this treatment is received in a positive manner, this same dude was dancing the jig with Fish towards the end of the show (Fish went into the crowd to dance a bit). For minimal DTC, it wouldn't hurt in the *slightest* for KJL to see a Fish show to see how Fish handles a less than perfect crowd. This is constructive criticism from one who only means well, not more fodder for "I hear what they say about me on the Internet". In terms of the music, the setlist was tilted quite heavily towards his latest release (Sunsets). Which is fine, because I think that it this best effort since Vigil. Only, some in the audience may not have heard this CD yet. This new stuff seems to have a bit more of a musical edge than some of the more recent material. Fish seemed quite well and it was a treat to have the keyboardist from the Vigil period (Micky Simmonds ??) there. Not much Marillion, but that period was indeed a long time ago. I wanted to hear Incubus, but no luck. And, why does he practically never play View From the Hill ?? But, overall, this is a show really worth seeing. Fish plays no metal, but its hard not to enjoy the musicianship and the show in general. $10 cover. As Fish would say, "Fucking Brilliant". I'm still a little bit on air from it! Compared to what I heard of most concerts' opening acts, I think we lucked out. Ours was a band called "Dirty Larry," and through all of their set, they reminded me of seeing Stabbing Westward open for Depeche Mode in 94. Nothing to get excited about, but not total shit either. Although I think the bicycle was a bit much. As for QR themselves, the show rocked! If anyone had any doubts about them losing their edge, those thoughts would have been disuaded tonight! The three songs from HitNF that they did during their regular set-"The Voice Inside," "You," and "Reach," all(IMHO) sounded much better live than they did on the CD. And, of course, the lights and the boys' stage movements helped too. :-) My only two complaints were these-They didn't do anything from Rage, and I didn't care for the two songs they did for their encore-"Sign of the Times" and "Some People Fly." But, was it worth it? Absolutely! If you have an opportunity to go, Go! Complete with burning guitars, bashed up drum sets and sealed with a kiss, Eric Paul LaRue "Take hold of the flame.
