There are three reasons that I can think of. 1) Mercury probably thought, "If we're gonna do any, let's make it a complete set." 2) Mercury probably thought, "If we leave one out, someone will be pissed that we left out their favorite album." 3) Most importantly, Mercury definitely thought, "The more we re-release, the more money we'll make!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Digital Man \|/ ____ \|/ Secretary & Webmaster email_address_removed "@'/ ,. \`@" UVM Comp Sci Student Assn email_address_removed /_| \__/ |_\ "He won't need a bed http://www.emba.uvm.edu/~cmerlo \__U_/ He's a digital man" - Peart ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Maintainer of the Official Dream Theater Frequently Asked Questions List http://www.emba.uvm.edu/~cmerlo/dtfaq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jun 1997 15:54:03 Central Daylight Time From: "Francesco Mescino" To: email_address_removed Subject: DT DT DT DT DT Message-ID: I haven't been reading the jams, or surfing the web much these past few weeks. I understand where you're coming from, but you need to stop and consider a couple of things...for one, we can't just talk about Dream Theater all of the time, as much as we'd like to, we all pretty much know everything about them by now. The second thing about the Ytsejam mailing list, and probably more importantly, is that we're kinda like a family here. If you'd been around here as long as some of us, you might understand the ongoing posts of concern about what happened with Andy and Matt. There is a friendship and alliance amongst many people on this list, and if you remain a part of it and people here get to know you, you might find people are just as concerned for you when something bad happens to/with you. Don't worry Deidre, the thread will blow over like everything else around here, and you'll learn to skim the content of the 'Jam for stuff you really care about, and if you're like me, you'll figure out that posting a request asking people to stop a thread only gives it more life. Anyway, welcome to the list. You *WILL* find some very useful information in here from time to time, so I hope you don't get discouraged. If it wasn't for the Ytsejam list, I wouldn't have met John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy last summer, or gotten my DT bootleg (WDATU) autographed by Mike. You'll also find out about shows and clinics before the rest of the world. seeya 'round, buster http://users1.ee.net/buster http://www.dhpc.com/ryche/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jun 1997 14:23:53 -0700 From: email_address_removed (Dr. Mosh) To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: Big Mouth Message-ID: On the Eve of Destruction, gra@provida.no said: > >I've been paying some attention to the Eternity-X thread, and it seems like >Keith isn't the only guy who didn't think before Send. Knowing these guys are signed makes me feel all funny inside. :) BTW, these guys rock, if anyone hasn't noticed. :) I saw this in the paper the other day and found it kind of interesting... NEW YORK CITY (AP) - John Petrucci (guitar player for the musical quintet "Dream Theatre") has been suspended from recording for 2 weeks and fined $15000 for the comment, "I just can't get in sync with this (expletive) ingrown toenail. And you can quote me on that." Report is he's due to give a public apology to toenails worldwide. Broadcast time has not been revealed as of press time. Jack Stotzman, a podiatrist in Pullman, Washington was stated as saying, "I see several patients with ingrown toenails coming in and out on a daily basis, and never have I seen such an aggressive attitude towards one. Most people deal with them, but this blatantly ignorant, discriminatory attitude is uncalled for." Sarah Bradford of the National Ingrown Toenail Association of America (NITAA) demanded the apology and requested Mr. Petrucci's enrollment in a toenail rehabilitation clinic. Mr. Petrucci was also quoted as stating, "Toenails are a pain in the ass. Why the hell do I need them? All they do is rip holes in my socks." The comment sparking commandments for stricter penalties to be handed out. Fellow bandmate Mike Portnoy stated, "I had no idea John (Petrucci) was so prejudiced against his toenails. We often wondered why he never would talk about them." Bass player John Myung refused to comment on the subject. Apparantly, his comments seem to have sparked a group of anti-toenail revolutionaries to lay siege on a podiatry clinic outside of Hayden Lake, Idaho. The ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Administration) has been called in to correct the problem. Now back to our regularly scheduled jamming...
