Well, I've noticed a little discussion about Mike Bahr's latest CD compillation and how he says that his (live) version of 2112 is 21 min. 12 sec. Well, when they played 2112 last night, I timed the performance. It wasn't exact (I was too busy jumping and lost maybe 15 seconds at the very beginning ;) but it came out to around 21:12! Yes, the album version is shorter, but I think I figured it out. Alex added about a minute to his guitar solo toward the beginning of "III. Discovery." Especially the stuff about it being a death march and how Alder can't sing and the alarm clock waking you up and stuff. Upon further review, however, I've decided that while it probably isn't as good as the lightbulb, it is quite possibly better than sliced bread. I still think Ray needs to learn that when singing a line, it is prudent to hold the last note of the line and not one in the middle. i hate that. Also I listened to a new CD by a band called Hammerfall. The CD is called "Glory to the Brave". I would compare the music to Stratovarius and the lyrics to ManOwaR. So it is a must for all you brothers and sisters of true metal! It comes out this week in Germany as does the new Gamma Ray single "Valley of the Kings". My vocal skills have been improving since I started singing DTs stuff in the car, and I can hit every note in LSoaD. According to my trusty DT tab books (which aren't always accurate, but wTF?) I noticed the highest note he hits is in Under a Glass Moon which is a nadz-shattering high E. That's not being sustained. Not to say he can't sing higher. I've heard him hit some high shit on some of the bootlegs I've got. When I try to hit those high E's, I swear I feel one of my lungs snag on a rib. It's gotta be some dangerous shit...
