But the guy tells me that the show has been cancelled!! I didn't ask why though. Hopefully they are just changing venues or something. They last time I called a club to find out about a FW show, they also told me it was cancelled. I found out a couple of days later that they would be opening for DT. That was pretty cool! I was a little dissapointed with APOG, it isn't bad, but some of the riffing is a little boring. It will probably get better with more listens. I also just listened to HELLOWEEN's 'How Many Tears' and got a chill. layba day Conrad Now Playing: FATES WARNING- APOG ANGRA- Freedom Call ELDRITCH- Seeds of Rage ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Apr 1997 17:52:46 -0400 (EDT) From: Albert Balkiewicz To: email_address_removed Subject: The Anatomy of Man - NDTC Message-ID: Someone had something from the book The Anatomy of Man in their .sig file...............I was wondering if you can give me more info. Message-ID: hiya kids. after hearing some ungoddly amount of reviews telling all of is how bitchin' the new fates warning album is, i decided to find out for myself. i bought the album, and... ...it's the most boring cd i've ever yerad in my life. yes, i do appreciate fates's efort to do such a non-mainstreem thing like this,m and i applaud them. yes, i do think mark zonder's drums kick alot of ass. that's all i like about it. the music...well, it's like a death march. it's like lard's "time to melt," which is basically a 34 minute track of 5 chords repeated over and over again. so fates can repeat a musical theme. great. yes does it to, and that's why they haven't domne anything original since 1980. this concept album could have (and should have, imo) been shortened to 10 minutes. it's lik an ongoing funeral. the vocals. i assume ray adler can't just sing, 'cause he fails to do so. he tries to make each word say something in it's own right. maybe some people like that, but i don't...espically because i'm a singer. you wanna sing? then sing. of course, this is totally my opinion. if any of you want this (and can't find it) i'll be more than happy to sell my cd (which i've only played once) for 6 bucks. any comments that have some insightfullness are always welcome. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "..666 is no longer alone. he's getting out the marrow in your backbone, and the seven trumpets blowing sweet rock and roll gonna blow right down inside your soul. pythagoras with the looking-glass, reflect the full moon. in blood, he's writing the lyrics to a brand new tune.." * * * * * * * * * * mike ostrich e-mail: email_address_removed / email_address_removed erotomania: http://www.mindspring.com/~syrinx/ offical lemur voice homepage: http://www.mindspring.com/~syrinx/lemur-lemur-main.htm (c) 1997 Happy Fun Ball, Inc. Note that I am a Fish-era fan and most definitely not a Hogarth-era fan but to me, this is their best album in quite a while. They are still much more mellow than the good ol' days but they do kick things into gear a couple of times. I do not know if/when it is to be released in the USA since I picked it up in Amsterdam after the shows. Or, was it in Tilburg between the two shows (hehehehe.....). Or, as Jason always says , or is it - I forget. Viruses (with the exception of the Word Macro viruses) live in executable code, and not data. Just *looking* at it can't do anything. If someone e-mails you a program, and you extract the program from the e-mail and run it separately, who knows what it'll do. But just reading e-mail can't do anything to your system. I knew all this school would come in handy someday. -d ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Digital Man \|/ ____ \|/ Secretary & Webmaster email_address_removed "@'/ ,. \`@" UVM Comp Sci Student Assn email_address_removed /_| \__/ |_\ "He won't need a bed http://www.emba.uvm.edu/~cmerlo \__U_/ He's a digital man" - Peart ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Maintainer of the Official Dream Theater Frequently Asked Questions List http://www.emba.uvm.edu/~cmerlo/dtfaq.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Apr 1997 18:01:11 +0000 From: "Dale R. I've listened to the record a few more times, and, while it's growing on me, I'd still put it in the "Night on Brocken" and "No Exit" class....it isn't quite where "Parallels" is for me (actually, it's not even that close). It certainly IS more progressive, though I think, in terms of how I think if progressivity, "No Exit" probably fits the bill a little better. It's still a hell of an album, I'll admit. Queensryche? Does any body know any good free sequencing software i can get on the net to start out? thanks about DT and QR. It just so happens that many Dt fans happen to like QR a lot. Secondly Qr considered progressive by many because of O:M since its a concept album, and because they're constantly changing their style; hence, they progress.. like Rush. THats' exactly what they did in HitNF. How can anybody call adapting the current rock sounds into your style 'regressing'. Besides it's nice to hear the boys just rock out for once. I'm sure next time they'll go back to thought-out, more intellectual ways. To sum it up, QR and DT have very different styles, but they have certain qualities which attract many to both. Even though I have tried to explain it to them a number of times. It is not that they are totaly against it, but feel that the Record label would drop them (or cause other problems in contract negotations) Savatage is quite fortunate to still be on Atlanic when so many other bands like them have been dropped. So right now they are keeping to the straight and narrow. Although if you can get your hands on "Made in Heaven 1996" , it is quite excellent.
