I got 3 boots in the mail today. One of which is the Rush "critical mass" video. This absolutely kicks ass! It is very clear and very well done. It was a breath of fresh air from the amateur bootleg videos I'm normally used to. I also got a Rush pro-shot from the Presto tour From Detriot. It's a decnt video, but the quality is just ok. My question: what is the date of this concert? AND... I also got a Fates Warnig nvideo that took place in Pittsburgh, PA. on the "inside out" tour. There is no date listed on this one either. Does anyone know it? Thanks. Brandon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Apr 1997 23:36:59 -0700 From: "Vincent G. LuPone" To: email_address_removed Subject: Metallica regressing? What the >fat is up with that? Did the freakin' radio stations get 'em or what? Sounds like there's some serious scalping going on there. Radio only gets a limited amount of tickets, and most of those are shit seats. From what I can tell, most radio stations get one pair of front row tix to give away. I'm not saying that's always true, just an observation. So what's more likely going on is that scalpers are well connected through ticketbastard and are getting all the good seats. If I were you I'd write a letter of complaint and send it to the band's management and your State's att'y General's office and there could be an investigation. Contrary to what some might think, bands so care. If you want email me privately and I'll tell you what Prince did to stop scalping of tix here in San Jose. I was going to DT with a couple of other guys, and the meeting point was the Hard-Rock cafe. They showed the live video of DT, and played Awake (yes, COMPLETELY!). It was a nice start. Enchant was nice, DT was great! PLaying such complex songs, with that much ease. James' voice was much better than with the Awake show. One minor pitfall: Take Away My Pain; written by Petrucci, after loosing his father (I almost feel bad, complaining about a song with such a high Emotional Impact. But the song really had a too high Kelly Family feel (except for the solo, and the way it was played, etc., but you get my point.) Am I the only one who didn't like this song? Maybe I should hear it more often, a so called 'grower'? BTW, Lines in the Sand and Peruvian Skies were great; can't wait till the next album Marco Bakker ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 09:20:53 -0400 From: Carlos Alfaro To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: Tribute??? Oh, I'm fairly confident that this Alanis cover band probably sold out the club, and does fairly well, simply because there is a market for that right now. But as a viable direction for a band to go in, I don't know. I would suspect within the next year or so they're going to have to seriously reconsider their musical "direction". :) ________Pat Sullivan__________________________________ E-mail: email_address_removed WWW: http://www.ici.net/cust_pages/psull/psull.html IRC: DDictator NP: Deliverance - "If You Will" ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 10:52:10 -0700 From: Kevin Madden To: email_address_removed Subject: Defiance Message-ID: Someone wanted to know about Defiance. I have two of their cds, which were released on Roadracer/RC records. I have "beyond recognition" and "void terra firma." I bought them out of the cut-out bins for about a dollar or two each...in my opinion the band sounds a lot like Testament. The latest one came out in 1992, so I wouldn't count on them being around anymore...the stuff is pretty thrashy, and like I said, very reminiscent of heavier Testament. Message-ID: Okay folks, this is my first posting on the jam, after just hanging around here for a few years: I was at the gig in Bonn yesterday and it totally kicked ass. They opened with ACOS and played for almost two and a half hours. Everybody in the band was really kicking, LaBrie hit every fucking note perfectly =20 (unbelievable good). There were some really cool things about the gig. Mike appeared when the opener "Enchant" was going to play the last song and he sat on the drums, then they played "Would" (I think) by Alice in chains together. When DT played after the break, the singer and the drummer of "Enchant" appeared when DT was playing CIAW and were "helping" a bit with the drums and background vocals. Since it was Mike's birthday the audience sang "Happy Birthday" for him and James gave him a birthday cake with a Majesty-symbol on top, then they played one= =20 song in a "quite different" setting, featuring Derek on guitar, Mike on bass, JP on drums and JM on keyboard (they called it "Nightmare Cinema"). The song they played was "Perfect Strangers" from Deep Purple. All I can say is that I can't wait to the next tour, this one kicked some serious but= t. ttyl, ------------------------------------------------ If I started from the top and worked my way down There would be no reason to live forever.
