Message-ID: Howdy, Jammerz - Okay, it's late and I'm REALLY tired, so I'll make my points short and to the point: First, in the previous Ytsejam, it was mentioned that someone or something called "Alta Myra" (I think...) had the Winter Rose CD and the new Ryche single for sale. What exactly is "Alta Myra"? I did a Yahoo search on it and nothing came up. Sorry for my ignorance. Damn, it's about time the Ryche came out with a single for the album! Secondly, I'm so fookin' happy that the petition did some good. (Pause whilst all Jammerz pat their backs...). There's hope yet for a '97 release!!! WooHoo!! :-) Finally, I'd been meaning to ask for a while, but does anyone have the ENTIRE Queensryche Unplugged show on audio or video they'd like to trade? I read that in addition to the tracks showed on MTV, they also played Scarborough Fair, Anybody Listening, and Rockin' In the Free World!!! There may have been others, but that's all I can remember. If anyone can help me out, please either e-mail me privately, or just post it to the Jam. Thanx, gang! - Matt T. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Apr 1997 23:05:09 -0600 (CST) From: Mike Pelarski To: Just Words Subject: Re: YTSEJAM 2414/Dumb prog lyrics Message-ID: > From: nga@software-ag.de (Neil Gallop) > > I was having a bit of a nostalgia night yesterday (ain't what it used to be), > and I think I came across what must be the dumbest lyrics to be found in any > prog song. The only > difference is that one eighth note would have to be removed from 5/4 > time. Actually, I disagree. Sure, 9/8 is nine eighth notes per measure, but by definition of compound meter 9/8 is divided into three beats per measure with the beat subdivided most easily into multiples of three. By definition of simple meter, 5/4 is divided into five beats per measure with the beat subdivided most easily into multiples of two. It would be more accurate to call it alternating bars of 4/4 and 5/4 or 4/8 and 5/8. I know it is transcribed in the I&W book at 9/8, but this is where JP and I would disagree, I guess. :) That just proves that you can call it what you want. Take it to your local music theorist and after a listen I'm sure he/she would tell you it's alternating 4 and 5--not 9. What am I doing? You all don't need a treatise on simple vs. compound meter. :P > Hey!!! The petiton fucking worked!!! Mike seems to think they'll start > in May?!! Yippeee!!! Life is good. Kiss Of Judas The song begins with haunting bass part & som eerie guitar sounds, and then the whole band=20 joins... Maybe a little progression from Episode, didn't like the song first time, but it just keeps getting better and better. "...act of confidence, the kiss of Judas, I feel the lips on my cheek, the kiss of Judas. 2. Black Diamond=20 Jens plays some beatiful harpsichord (?) melody and then the band kicks in, and with speed of=20 light, I'd say this is better one than KOJ, with lotsa cool gtr playing, good solos, but I=20 especially like the rhytm parts. Timo Kotipelto shows some great singer talent, and Jens plays FAST like Tolkki, J=F6rg Michael and Jari Kainulainen. 3. Kiss Of Judas (demo version) No much difference for the real version, little different eerie sound at the beginning, and lil' crappier gtr sound. 4. Uncertainity (Live version) ------------------------------ 5. Fourth Reich (Live Version) I liked this song when I first time heard Dreamspace, and now with Kotipleto singing, Jens playing kbs and J=F6rg drumming.... COOOL song, one of my all time Strato favourites. I'd give it 9,4 / 10 ________________ Someone wrote: >The new Dream Theater is going to be like nothing we expected...hmm, please >tell me they don't go alternative or worse yet, rap?
