I'd have to give it to something off of either Helloween's Keeper of the Seven Keys parts one or Two or Gamma Ray's Heading for Tomorrow. The only denect lyrics on either of those three are from the title song of the Gamma Ray album. I think that for sheer disappointment factor I'd give it to Helloween's "Keeper..." the song. Here they go and name two albums after this song, and it;s nothing but an extremely cheesy "go kill the devil" fantasy song. sigh. But for sheer absurdity it's probably be something like "Space Eater" or the Helloween song about life being like a ball and "doing it with a chair", or maybe that "Halloween" song with the lovely cameo appearance by Linus and the Great Pumpkin. Hm. So much drivel, so little time to talk about it. __ /\ __ __\/__\/__ ~Chris \_||_/ /__||__\ http://www2.ucsc.edu/people/aspect/ // \ | \\ http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palms/9597 (coming soon) \| ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Mar 1997 16:22:03 -0500 From: email_address_removed To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: YTSEJAM digest 2402 Message-ID: The Doc Wrote: >drummers tend to be fairly proficient... not to knock Portnoy, he is really >incredible, but he tends to drift in his timing a lot. It never ceases to amaze me some of the bull I see on here from time to time, and it is usually a critique of one of DT's members, prefaced with something like "so & so is good, but I think I heard him make a mistake in such & such song at 8:13 into it...." If I sound defensive, it's because I am. For someone to sit and tell me Portnoy drifts and Zonder doesn't....oh shit, I can't even put into words how stupid I think the statement is. This isn't a flame Doc...you'll probably notice that I get jumpy whenever someone starts nit-picking any member of DT on this Fan based mailing list. I think you're on crack, Portnoy is solid, and so far I haven't heard you play any better. Yes as a whole "Legend" is better than the first two. I must admit that it doesn't have as much guitar work or cool fast songs but it is very atmospheric *grin*. Kind of like listenng to Pink Floyd albums. You really need to put on the head phones and sit back and relax and hear the whole thing through. When they are finished with the trilogy it is going to kick ass! I would recommend any of their 4 releases to people on here. You can write to their fan club to get the CDs cheap. There are some web pages out there with sounds as well. Check them out. Ok they are Christian metal but in no way preachy...no Stryper stuff here *laugh*.
