Rather, we should be happy to receive the grace he bestows upon us with his presence. After all, you never know ;^) We now move ahead in our program to a DT-laden question I've been meaning to ask for quite a while: In the LiT vid, does anyone else find it irritating that Portnoy's drums are recorded w/ the audio channels reversed? The drumming is mind-boggling enough normally, but it can really overload the synapses when the floor tom is coming from the right, and the snare from the left. I know he's a great drummer, but drum _ventriloquism_? I think that's pushing it. And no, my stereo leads are not swapped. pg ----------------------------+---------------------------------- Paul Goracke | "To do is to be" - Aristotle email_address_removed | "To be is to do" - Plato | "Do be do be do" - Sinatra ----------------------------+---------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Dec 1995 11:54:40 -0500 From: email_address_removed To: email_address_removed Subject: I've had enough Message-ID: Thanks to all of you religious people, you have driven me off the 'jam. I didn't mean to imply that Mormon are morons. It's just that when I first read the post I responded to, DID think it said MORON until I read it again. SO that's where the first statement came from. As for the second, it was totally inappropriate. I'm not familiar with the Mormon theology, so I don't know if they believe that Satan is God's son or not. I'll have to take someone's word for it. This is the FIRST time I have ever heard of that notion and I thought that the guy who originally made the post about it was SERIOUSLY misinformed on the Christian idea of the relationship between God, Jesus, and Satan. If he's a Mormon, then I SINCERELY apologize to him for the statement I made as well as any negative comments I made about his post. When I first read his post, I thought it was the most rediculous thing I had heard. And here I am TRYING to be open-minded towards all religions after being intolerant for so long due to my Catholic education. While I have no real clue about what an IRC is (and dont give a shit - although being soooo tricky, I can kind of figure out what it is), it seems to me that there are two issues that need to be addressed: 1) Someone is being a real loser/jerk (the root of the problem), and 2) Too many people are writing about their personal problems in a public forum (aka the ytsejam). Enough already. If you are part of either #1 or #2, above, please consider the following possible SOLUTIONS (numerically correlated with problem number, above, to facilitate effecting the solution) 1) Quit being an loser/jerk and grow up, or 2) Quit writing about it here !! The beginning of this is important, and a little compicated, so read carefully. There are two entrances/exits to the Holiday Inn. The one you came in was from Sunrise Highway. You have to leave via the other exit, onto N. Centre Ave. Make a left onto N. Centre. You will come to a traffic light at the intersection of N. Centre and Sunrise, facing south. There should now be a CVS pharmacy on your right. On your left should be a gas station, and behind the gas station, the hotel. Travel straight for one block. This brings you to a 5-corners intersection. You want to turn left, but not a sharp left. The sharp left is Merrick Road, and the other left, at about a 30 degree angle from you, is Lincoln Ave. You want to be on Lincoln Ave., heading southeast. Take Lincoln Ave. until it ends in about 10 blocks or so. At its end, there will be a Hess gas station on your right. Also, there is only one way for you to go, and that is to the right. Make the right, onto Long Beach Rd. You are now travelling south on Long Beach Rd. In about four blocks or so, you come to a fork in the road. You want to bear left, which keeps you on Long Beach Rd. You know you're still going the right way if you see a Pizza Hut on your left after a couple of blocks. If you see a post office on your right, you went the wrong way. Continuing south on Long Beach Rd., you will come to a point where there is a huge shopping center on either side of the road. There's a Gap on the left, and a Pergament on the right. Keep going straight, and you'll pass a big, stinky garbage dump on your left. Now you come to another fork in the road. Bear left. You are now travelling south on Austin Blvd. After about 10 blocks or so, you'll cross a bridge. Once you cross the bridge, stay in your right lane. You are now on Long Beach Blvd. In about four blocks, you will see a huge intersection. On the near right corner is the Roy Rogers. The entrance to the parking lot is on Long Beach Blvd., before the intersection. ----------------------- Directions to the Malibu Beach Club, Lido Beach, L.I., NY ------------------------------ Remember that big intersection you saw before turning into the Roy's parking lot? Well, you want to make a left onto that road, Park Blvd. Now, this may be more easily said than done. You may have to go straight on LB Blvd., and go around the block to get onto Park Blvd. Just remember that you want to travel east on Park. Once you are on Park Blvd, the rest is simple. Just remember to WATCH YOUR SPEED on Park Blvd. It's really tempting to open it up, and the cops know that. Also, Long Beach cops aren't the friendliest on LI. Anyway, just keep going straight on Park Blvd. for about 2 miles or so. At some point, it becomes un-divided and changes names. Just keep going straight. Watch for the Nassau Beach club on your right, because the Malibu is the next one. The entrance to the Malibu is on the right. You'll see a sign that says "Malibu" and a smaller one below it that says "Dream Theater 12/28" or something. (Yeah, they spelled it right!) Make a right into the parking lot, and follow the "road" around to the right. Plenty of free parking. *************************************************************** * Christopher R.
