After a little prodding by the Short Story Man himself (Ben), I've managed to convert the images in my mind into (un)readable text. Hope you all enjoy! BTW This is in no way an interpretation, just imagination triggered by great music! ------ Under a Glass Moon ------------------ Another week passes, indistinguishable from all the others. Once again I lie bound in chains by my hidden captors. I realize not what I have done, yet still they keep me from my true desire. The only hope that remains, my only path of escape, is the dream rooted deep within my mind. Every night I leave my physical boundaries to seek out the one who waits for me. I see her in the distance, wandering through the midnight garden. The warm summer breeze caresses her innocent body as she steps lightly down the cobblestone path. As she approaches the footbridge that spans the trickling brook, I can see the sparkle in her wondering eyes. Enchanted by the magical evening, she stops on the bridge and gazes down into the silver water to be greeted by the reflection of the shimmering moon. She turns around, looks up, and smiles as the great glowing sphere kisses her softly on the cheek with a friendly beam. Awe-struck by the shear beauty, I stand at last to meet my true love. However, reality suddenly comes pouring in, and this mystical world is swept away before me, as I find myself back in my confinement. This pain is unbearable! I cannot live in this imprisonment any longer! I must escape! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The time has come. The time is now! Tonight I flee at last into the inviting darkness. Feeling the ground moving faster and faster beneath my feet brings long lost joy and excitement back to me! Nothing but the rhythm of my strides on the frozen ground can be heard as I reach closer and closer for my freedom. Soon, I think to myself, we will be together! Then I hear the crack of broken twigs and the murmuring of sinister voices. A pair of glowing eyes darts from tree to tree. They are here, they are after me! I can outrun them, I must outrun them! Now minutes pass that seem like years. My legs flying, my chest heaving, and my heart pounding, yet they continue to appear all around me! Once surrounded, I realize that I cannot escape and return to the controlling hands. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Back once again to my confinement, I wait patiently. I still have my dream, I still have my sanity. I remain peaceful, hanging on to the thread of faith that someday my mind demons will leave me. Leave me a free man. --- -Scott (aka Tolk) ............................................................................... How many people have drinks before or during a concert outing? I usually do and had a few more than needed for the ONLY DT show I've attended. (It was last Nov. at the Vic in Chi-town and I had just started getting into the band). I am very disappointed about that when I look back, because I am sure I missed things that I shouldn't have. Mike B.--I agree with you on the Ytse&Jam. First one of two were o.k., but after that I was just skipping. Bafu can keep 'em coming...no big deal to me. Just more 'Jam I have to pass. The whole visual music thing has me for a loss, as well. Ben, I can't get ANY of them, but even if I could I'd probably continue skipping them. The most interesting thing about them is how people are interpreting the sounds. The "swoosh"s, or whatever, as cymbals, etc. are intriguing. It's kinda like how different cultures "spell" animal sounds. To summarize this album i'd only say: Great musicians, grat songs and finally great production! This time, they've reached a point of no return and can be considered as one of the hard prog representatives with bands like Dream Theatre or Queensryche. Their music can be defined as an alchemy beetween DT and Queensryche (without copying). Sometimes energic with heavy guitar rythmics and sometimes quiet with beautiful keys and piano parts. The singer mike Baker has a very personnal and emotive voice which suits perfectly with the band's music. "Cliffhanger" will make you up if you 're not yet with multiple breaks, powerfull guitar riffs and a savage drum. "Don't every cry" and its flute solo also features beautiful piano parts. "warcry" starts slowly before getting harder and harder. "Alaska" is a sublime song very quiet with accoustic guitar, piano and off course mike Baker's superb voice. A purely emotional moment. The last song is a 22 minutes piece gathering all SG facets: lots of breaks, a piano instrumental ,some quiet and hard parts and to finish a key part which could belong to Vangelis. So, with "carved in stone" SG becomes a major band and you should verify this buying the album. You'll tell me what you think about it!!! email_address_removed.fr ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Nov 95 17:05:13 EST From: Damon M.
