Pussies. That's all I can think of to say. The net is 90% noise, 10% signal, and the ratio here on the Jam is FAR better. All I can assume (especially by the fact that they didn't learn how to unsubscribe properly) is that they're newbies, and they're going to "surf" the rest of "cyberland" on their "info highway" and learn just how fucking good things ARE here on the Jam in comparison. It just sort of annoys me that a forum such as this, which is readable even in a degenerate state (which happens now and then), is thought to be not worth reading, by someone who apparently does not even know any better. Those wimps should be punished by being forced to read 10 straight days of rec.music.metallica... THEN come on back over to the Jam and tell us how degenerate we are! Muhahahahaaaa! Although I gotta admit, Bafu, it got old fast and the last incarnation of it probably should have been left on the shelf. Originally it was fantastic though. But then again, on the net, in this fastest of all information media, I would be surprised if trends DIDN'T die the second they started. MTV _wishes_ they had it so good. :) In other news, I spent the evening drinking heavily, as I did last weekend. Is this post coherent? Because I can't tell for sure, myself. I drank six long island ice teas before I realized what I had been doing, and, feeling perfectly sober, proceeded to attempt to get up from the barstool, and fell flat on the floor. Talk about a hidden buzz! BTW what are you Jammers' favourite drinks? I know Mike Portnoy likes Jagermeister... argh. That stuff is jet fuel, I swear it. I like cinnamon schnapps in the same way as Jaeger: good for a sip or a shot, but damned if I'm gonna drink it all night! I rather like LIITs, Colorado Bulldogs, Three Wise Men (Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, and Jose Cuervo), Vibrating Pussy, and of course the old standby: beer... Message-ID: For all those guitarists on the point of consigning their axe to the fire after listening closely to TTT or the live TLF solo, or the Lie solo, or the Erotomania solo, or........., here are four things to listen for: (i) After the funky solo in TTT in the LiT video, JP plays a scorching missed chord just before the run leading up to the keyboard solo. (ii) The missed note in the PMU intro on LatM. (iii) JP's tone (as mentioned recently on the jam) in live versions of the PMU intro. I think this may be because he's using a distorted tone with the volume down on the guitar for the clean part. This allows him to play the first part clean, then whack up the volume for the distorted part without having to change guitar patches. (Just a thought). (iv) A dodgy patch change in the live version of Ytse Jam on LiT coming out of a solo. None of these are criticisms - if guitarists make mistakes, its often because they are stretching themselves, and I'd much rather they did this than played stuff they are comfortable with. And yes, in case people are in any doubt, JP is my favourite guitarist! I'd like to thank Make Bahr for the CD and the extra. Another Day: James singing is really bad, and it seems like John's guitar playing is a tad bit sloppy. Lifting shadows: Good version of this Song, I'd say it is very different from the album version. Wait For Sleep: I don't like the tone of the guitar at the beginning of the song, but I guess it is a good imitation of a piano. The rest of it is pretty good. Silent Man: Pretty muc hthe same as on the record. Long Island Expressway: Is this a jazz song? Tears: Really like this version of the song. I'm glad I never heard Geddy singing it. Geddy's voice is really bad. O Holy Night: Never heard the original, but it doesn't seem like it is all that good of a song to begin with. The recording of James singing didn't seem like it was of the highest quality. Perfect Strangers: Eerie how much Bruce Dickenson sound like James. This might be a more impassioned playing of the song then on ACOS by the intrumentalists. Six O'clock, Caught in a Web - I guess I like the new version of caught in a web better because the guitars are more crunchy, but on six o-clock the synthasizer just doesn't seem like it's doing what it needs to. Voices - Not good sound quality, and they cut out some really cool parts by going to the end to early. Bad - don't like U2, and I don't like this song.
