I've been hearing so much about Echolyn on the ytsejam lately, that I figured that I would give my opinion on them. I picked up their new disc a few weeks back and I was not instantly gratified with it, but after giving it a few listens, I was hooked on it. They know how to mix complex music with great melodies, but are not over the top trying to show off their skills. It seems to me that most of the jammers can appreciate Echolyn's musical skills, but are not very impressed with the music itself. The only thing that I can say is to give it a few more listens and it will grow on you. At the same time that I got the Echolyn CD, I picked up a disc by Cairo. I don't like them as much as I like Echolyn, but it is still good. It just seems that they write long songs for the sake of having long songs, because every tune clocks in around 10 minutes, with the album closer being 22 minutes long. I love long songs, but Cairo's long songs don't flow like DT or Yes songs. Well, that's just my .02. Any responses are welcomed. Message-ID: Hi 'jammers, My brother just wrote a review of the Berlin DT concert for his school magazine, I thought this could be interesting for those of you who understand german... so here it goes: Dream Theater 26.Februar 95 HuxleyÆs Neue Welt Fates Warning Musik in Perfektion F’r dieses Konzert die passenden Superlative zu finden, f„llt schwer. Was soll man also noch sagen? So what? Peer. I was just curious about the new Warrant album. If any of you 'Jammers have it, do you mind mailing me a review? I have DRFSR, and I liked that back when I was in my Fresh/Soph years of high school. Yeah, I'm that young! I've heard good things about it, like that it's got some changing time sigs and other prog elements. Naturally, my tastes are a lot heavier now than they were then, but I'm always on the lookout for something new. I can't believe the ACOS EP isn't coming out until August! I don't know if I can wait that long. There better be some new stuff on it, too. I already have 2 CD versions of Eve, and the studio version of To Live Forever. But, ACOS is one of my fave DT songs--as long as it's on there I'm sure I'll be happy. Also, let's all give Freak a big pat on the back for his appeal to the record company--Good Job!
