Message-ID: For those of use who are new, DT does NOT allow taping of shows, but that doesn't stop anyone... Some shows recorded with both analog and digital recording media turn out very impressive sounding... For example, the New Haven ANALOG tape sounds better than alot of DATs that I have heard (although that is an exception, I think)... As far as soundboard tapes, if Lost In The Sky is one (latly, I have heard that it is FM, and I almost hear radio static the more I listen to it on Surrounded, especially) than part of the reason might be b/c it was done in Italy... where bootlegs are legal... someone might have just somehow managed to get a tape onto the board, or stole a copy... As far as sound quality, some of the aud tapes are very VERY good... as far as getting them, there are alot of us on the list that will trade for blanks to start up people's collections, etc... -- +---------------------------------+ | Here we go STEELERS, here we go | +----------------+---------------+---------------+-+-------------------+ | I never bared my emotions | Dream Theater | Michael Burstin | | My passion always strong | Scarred | Brandeis University | | I never lost my devotion |-----Awake-----+---------------------+ | but somewhere fate went wrong. | Home for break, but still on daily | +--------------------------------+-------------------------------------+ For info about Dream Theater, finger email_address_removed http://cs.brandeis.edu/USER/UGRAD/mikeb/home.html ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Dec 1994 23:10:09 -0500 From: email_address_removed To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: taping equipment Message-ID: Another Andy writes: <> These are basically 'starter' recorders. If a person isn't sure whether taping is something they can handle, it's an inexpensive way to get started. The tapes are generally much lower in quality, but it's better than 'not' taping. Concerning RCA inputs and plugging into the board, DT and most bands that I follow don't even allow audience taping, so.... <> I strongly disagree. I could send you walkman tapes that sound incredible. But since this is covert taping, then it's also more of a hit-or-miss situation. I think that the microphone is very important, and they make some killer mics which are as small as a dime. ...But, if DT allowed taping, then we wouldn't even have an issue. I'd buy a DAT and a pair of shotguns in a minute :) Andy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Dec 1994 00:05:05 -0700 (MST) From: Mark Tedhams To: email_address_removed Subject: DT transcriptions Message-ID: Howdy DT fans, Im looking for DT transcriptions. About 8 months ago I saw someone who had the full score (vocals, keyboards, guitar, bass, drums) for I&W except it didn't contain Learning To Live. Never-the-less it was cool. I am a drummer and it's hard to find drum transriptions. A friend of mine's friend (who is Japanese) got it in Japan, and that was the last I saw of it. I was wandering if anyone out there has it or knows where I can get it. Are there any other transcriptions (esp. w/drums) out there. Could somebody help me find out this info.
