I actually got it today, out of curiosity, in a used CD shop but I will respectfully decline to publicly comment on his playing. :) Hey Jens, I've never heard any of your work, but judging from the above quote...I think I'm starting to like ya...attitude is just as important as talent IMHO. I take that back, I've got Lock Up The Wolves...for free...brand new at a music store...they couldn't sell them or send them back...It doesn't reflect on you, it reflects on my hometown...I'll listen to ya again...or rather listen for ya...anyway, I hope your future projects turn out the way you want them to. Mallery" To: email_address_removed Subject: Keyboard situation Message-ID: Jens, sorry to hear the band is not going with you as a replacement. Guess I'll have to check out the Jonas Helborg group cd, love that Hammond! There's lots of great prog bands coming out of Sweden right now, do you get to listen to any of them while you're there? (Like Anglagard, Anekdoten, Landberk, Isuldur's Bane, etc.) Btw, Anglagard and Anekdoten will both be at Progfest '94 Nov 5th and 6th in LA. Jordan Rudess is also a very capable player. He put out a great solo album last year called "Listen", and was voted best new talent by readers of Keyboard magazine. The disc has great modern keyboard textures, but somehow I can't see him with DT. He doesn't seem to be a metal type guy at all, but who knows. It also bothers me that they are keeping any keyboard players as just sideman, instead of full writing partners. I would not like to see a diminished role for keys in the group, as guitar-laden heavy metal is just not my cup of tea. Well that's my view on it all, Alan ______________________________________________________________________________ Alan Mallery | (email_address_removed) | (insert quote here) (email_address_removed) | ------------------------------ Topic No. 3 Date: Sat, 20 Aug 1994 10:05:04 -0500 (EDT) From: Michael Burstin To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: YTSEJAM digest 491 Message-ID: > Topic No. 7 > > From: pandora > Subject: opinions, reflections, and a question or two... > > First, a question. DT is very Hmm... perhapse they are still debating whether or not to use lyrics? I mean, Jens just said that the version he heard had lyrics... Yet this DJ said it didn't... Maybe that will be one of the bonus tracks? A different version... Anyway, what I tried to say was that I had heard that 6:00 was based on Pup, and that tenative titles so far had been to use Puppies On Acid or Kittens On Crack... As far as I can tell, they started using Eve when they strted their 2nd US tour, and continued it until they finished the tour, somewhere in Europe or Asia... I don;t know where they ended... As far as boots w/ Eve, check out DoL, LoS, LitS, any others from the same locations (I think someone mentioned that there is another copy of DoL and LoS floating around (not unusual, since they are both FM broadcast shows)). Besides that, there is of course, DoE, but I would consider that to be different... (oh, also, there are not that many boots that don't have Eve either... All this new info on Awake, Kev's departure, the choice of a new keyboardist, etc. I think Jens summed it all up perfect when he said it is "surreal." With all this stuff going on, will the release date of Awake be affected in any way? I know it seems small in compared to the other stuff, but I know many fans (including myself) are just a little more than excited for the release of the new album. I only hope they decide on a permanent keyboardist after the release, rather than pull a "LaBrie" and audition 200 people, in the meantime leaving the fans teetering on the edge of insanity :) Mike ------------------------------ Topic No. 7 Date: Sat, 20 Aug 1994 16:32:10 +0800 From: email_address_removed To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: YTSEJAM digest 491 Message-ID: They are playing "Lie" on the local radio station here in Denver. Hmm... maybe that is just what DT needs... a keyboardist who isn't a metal type guy... a member of the band to keep the wide range and variety that Kev has brought us in the past. Hopefully if they like him they will keep him. ------------------------------ Topic No. 9 Date: Sun, 21 Aug 1994 01:51:59 -0500 (CDT) From: William Wright To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: more about AWAKE Message-ID: > About the CD having more than 75 mins... the suppose extra track is not > possible... higher track density means you can't play it on every CD > player...
