I just recieved an advance-copy of the forthcoming Fates Warning-CD "Inside Out" and it is amazing. the style is somehow like on "Parallels", but darker and in some songs heavier (sometimes it sounds like a mixture of "Parallels" and "No Exit"). The first time I listened to it, i was a bit dissapointed, because it is not as catchy as "Parallels" but as i listened again and again it became a killer. If you loved "Parallels" or/and "No Exit", you'll love this one. If you heard about Fates Warning for the first time then check it out and listen to songs loke "Pale Fire", "Shelter Me" and 8 more. If you are into progressive Rock (Metal) this is a must. Nuff said..... The floor is pretty small, but there are two levels of balconies, so if someone didn't want to get stuck in the pit, they could go hang out up there. One of the balconies lead to a staircase to the stage, but that was blocked off on the stage side. There were however quite a few female groupies on the other side of the barricade. This weekend I was at a record show and saw a single CD boot called Dance of Eternity (not the one from the Limelight). It is from a show in Buffalo, and contains the standard track listings, including Status Seeker. Anyone know of this boot? __________________________________________________________________________ Rohit Modak email_address_removed ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Jun 1994 13:43:04 -0400 (EDT) From: email_address_removed Subject: Re: other bands close to DT >I would have to say that musically the band Magellan is >very close to DT style. They use a bit >more keyboards than DT though. > Yeah, I really love Magellan. They're definitely not as heavy as Dream Theater but they tend to have driving, complex music that I love. It's more keyboard oriented, without the searing solos of Petrucci and Myung, but it all flows together very well with cool rhythms and great dynamics. It did take me a while to get used to the singer, but I really enjoy his style now. I'd recommend either of their albums: "Hour of Restoration" or "Impending Ascension" (their most recent). They are working on a new album on which they are talking about going in a harder direction (like DT). I just hope they don't lose their distinct style too much. Unfortunately, both albums are extremely hard to find in the USA (even though they're a US band!). I know of a number of places that you can probably mail order it, so send me email if you're interested and I'll send you the phone numbers.
