Andrew, can you please e-mail me concerning your Kings X show, that you advertised a week ago. I lost your e-mail address. Thanks. Kevin H. This is taken from the official Dream Theater fanzine: Images & Words. Here's the info on how to get it. For 4 issues, it costs $14 or $4 for each individual issue. Send money to: Dream Theater - Images & Words 8 Ryelands Close Caterham Surrey CR3 5HY England Since Neil is in England, he needs International Money Orders in POUNDS, or American cash. No foreign checks. The design is VERY professional, with pictures, and interviews. This issue has a copy of the program from the limelight (with the Dreambill). The biggie, though, is the interview that deals with the new album. Here's some key points from it: James and John P admit that they had nothing to do with the mix on I&W, that they were "locked out of the studio" That will change this time. They plan to work on the mixing, with the producers, Duane Baron & John Purdell. Now they have 11 tracks that are planned to be included, which clock in at 74 minutes. Mike says: "When we got into writing mode, we ended up churning out so much new material. At the moment, the only new stuff we plan on using (from the last tour) is Puppies on Acid, which was an instrumental that we played before Take the Time, which we have now expanded into a full song." Some working titles include Kittens on Crack, Blowfish, Squid, and The Key Master. "People are going to be surprised at how heavy it is. It was real important that the songs were strong, but we did it conciously, and without compromising the musicianship. This is the album that will please every single fan, but will also silence the sceptics who say we're just Prog Rock," elaborates Portnoy. "It's the most extreme stuff we've ever written in every direction; by far some of the heaviest stuff, but some of the most mellow and dynamic, too. It has some of the most complicated and progressive stuff we've ever written, but also some of the simplest. It's a mixed bag that will please everyone." One song, "A Mind Besides Itself" will last close to twenty minutes. "That one's three songs which make up a trilogy. The first part is an instumental, the second a 10-minute, almost Janes Addiction sort of thing called Voices, and the third part brings it back down with an acoustic piece called The Silent Sun. A lot of songs are going to be interconnected with recurring themes throughout the album. It's not a concept album as far as a story, but we'll be taking various musical themes and repeating them to add a real flow. When you listen from start to finish, it will really sound like an album, not just a bunch of songs." God, I love Mike. He's such a talker. So, that's the lowdown. If you've got the money, I suggest subscibing to the fanzine. It's really good and professional. They're REALLY good. I just recently bought another album, "Images at Twilight" to compliment "Heads or Tails" and I love them both (I think I like Twilight better) Their music is really good, but I have a tough time finding it. ANd when I do find it it's really cheap ($9 for Twilight on CD) So if you can find it, go for it, it's great :) (although the pic of the group on Heads or Tails makes the group look like a bunch of geeks ;) Chris ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jun 1994 19:50:30 -0400 (EDT) From: Aaron Lafferty Subject: Re: MAJESTY DEMO CD FOR SALE > > > For sale > > Majesty - The official 1986 Demo > on CD. > > Brand New. > > Email me if you are interested. > > |I only have 1 of these available right now, so first come, first served. > > Tim > > email_address_removed > i have the feeling im way late, but im interested anyway -- "What do you think they would say, if I stood up, and I walked away? ANd when I do find it it's Strange that NOW everybody starts looking for Saga...I thought their time was over. I listen to Saga since 1983 - and I love them although their newer records really are too much in the softer pop direction. ONLY the drums could have been a little more in the live direction, as you hear them often at the surrounded.boots.... > Master. "People are going to be surprised at how heavy it is.
