Its called Six of One, Half Dozen of the other. I love it, but you have to place DT out of your mind when you listen to it. +Mike -- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Feb 1994 9:29:41 -0500 (EST) From: I LOVE PICKLES Subject: DoE If you want I can send you the address of a place I know that has it. Subject: Re: Gothic Gout Personally, I think that the idea of having both shirts would be great- having the "Surrounded" quote surrounded in light ( as I believe was suggested) would be VERY cool, and would appeal to a lot of people. The "balls & chunk" is also a great idea as well, and I know that many people (myself included) would probably buy both anyway. That;'s my particular view of it. -Al ----------------------------------------------******************************** Al Balkiewicz "She will slowly yield the light, email_address_removed As I awaken from the longest night......" I just got a copy of a bootleg from Toronto (actually 2 shows) of Winter Rose... the band that LaBrie used to be in before DT. I must say that it is not that bad, but totally different than DT. They are much more of a hard rock band. The first few songs that I heard reminded me alot of Skid Row, but after listening to them, I think that they were better than the SR songs that I have heard. You can easily identify James' voice. His voice has not changed much, especially when he is talking in between songs. Overall, the quality of the tape is pretty good, and the songs are not bad, as long as you know not to be expecting a DT like band. Does anyone else have anything from Winter Rose??? I also got a tape of Majesty performing live!!! They mostly do what was released on the Majesty Demos. I have 2 shows (one tape) Here are the set lists: Sept 25, 1986 October 25, 1986 L'Amours, Brooklyn, NY Sparks Theater, Long Island, NY Side One: Side Two: Another Won Afterlife Cry For Freedom Another Won Gates Of Babylon Cry For Freedom Your Majesty Your Majesty March Of The Tyrant Vital Star Afterlife Ytse Jam March Of The Tyrant I am listening to side one right now, and the quality is not that bad, especially considering it is almost 8 years old. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | The way your heart sounds makes all the difference | | It's what decides if you'll endure the pain that we all feel | | The way your heart beats makes all the difference | | In learning to live | | Dream Theater Learning To Live Images and Words | | Michael Burstin Brandeis University | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Let's Go Pens Let's Go Pens Lets Go Pens Let's Go Pens | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ For info about Dream Theater, finger email_address_removed ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Feb 1994 16:20:41 -0500 (EST) From: William T Bajzek Subject: Re: shirts Excerpts from mail: 23-Feb-94 Re: shirts by "Gary G. I would just like to have a copy of the show when I saw them. I have ALOT of DT rarities, as well as over 20 live shows, and I think 7 videos to trade. (As far as rarities, I have 2 tapes of demos, a few Majesty shows (see my last post), 2 pre-LaBrie DT shows, 2 pre DT LaBrie shows (see my last post) vocalist audition tapes, and an instrumental show) While I am mentioning these shows, I am also just starting my RUSH collection, so I am looking for as many RUSH tapes as I can find. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | The way your heart sounds makes all the difference | | It's what decides if you'll endure the pain that we all feel | | The way your heart beats makes all the difference | | In learning to live | | Dream Theater Learning To Live Images and Words | | Michael Burstin Brandeis University | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Let's Go Pens Let's Go Pens Lets Go Pens Let's Go Pens | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ For info about Dream Theater, finger email_address_removed ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Feb 94 14:13:16 PST From: email_address_removed (Zack Gemmill) Subject: Re: MIDI computer files How about .au files for Sun SPARC stations? Let there be two shirts. One for those who don't quite understand DT, and the other - "Balls and chunk is where it's at" - for the more devote DT fans. << Well, I don't think DT is about "balls and chunck." When I see a shirt with "Balls and chunk is where it's at" written on it, I think of a band which hits their drums hard and just plays loud music, not good music. I think we need to represent what DT stands for-not only do they not sell out, but they write interesting music and lyrics that are ABOVE heavy-hitting garbage. To reflect this fact, we should choose a quote that demonstrates DT's ability to produce good music and lyrics. "Surrounded" is not really a pop song; it's pretty complex. BTW: I am not against two shirts if everyone can get what they want. I just disagree that "Balls and chunk is where it's at" represents the ideas of DT. Portnoy was joking, commenting on the sad fact that people can't appreciate the wide scope of DT's music. (I don't even think "Pull Me Under" is "Balls and chunk", but rather a heavy, complex song.) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Feb 94 17:48:35 EST From: email_address_removed Subject: Re: Images and Words Images and Words is MY favorite album of all time!
